Accuracy is a precondition of credibility. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly, transparently, and durably.
How to report a correction
Readers, allocators, subjects of coverage, and automated fact-checking systems may report a correction by emailing corrections@alkemyainsights.com with:
- The URL of the article
- The specific claim in question
- The correction being proposed
- Primary-source documentation supporting the correction
We aim to respond to correction requests within 48 hours during standard editorial-desk operating hours.
How we handle corrections
We categorise corrections at three levels:
- Typographical. Spelling, punctuation, grammatical, or minor formatting corrections. Corrected silently within 24 hours; the article's
dateModifiedschema field is updated to reflect the correction date. - Clarification. A restatement that does not alter the substance of a factual claim but improves precision or avoids ambiguity. Logged at the foot of the article with the date and nature of the clarification.
- Material correction. A correction to a factual claim. The corrected text replaces the original; a correction note at the foot of the article records the date, nature, and reason for the correction; the article's
dateModifiedschema field is updated; and the correction is logged in the corrections record.
When we will not retract
We do not retract editorial opinion or analysis on the basis that the subject disagrees with the opinion. Editorial is a named-byline instrument; disagreement with an editorial view is addressed through the letters-to-the-editor process, not through retraction.
Retractions
In the rare case where an article is found to be substantially false, a formal retraction will be issued. The retracted article will remain accessible at its canonical URL with a prominent retraction notice replacing the original text; the retraction itself will be published as a standalone article with explanation.
